Technology Requirements
What you need to study online at Ucademy — computer, internet, software and accessibility — and what changes by program.
For every program
A tablet or Chromebook is fine for reading lessons and watching videos, but you will need a Windows or Mac computer for assignments and course software.

By program
| Program | What is different |
|---|---|
| IT Professional, Cybersecurity Specialist, Security Analyst | Labs run in your browser, so you do not need a powerful machine. 16 GB of RAM helps if you also want to run virtual machines locally. |
| Software & Web Developer | 16 GB of RAM recommended, plus permission to install development tools such as a code editor, Git and programming runtimes. |
| Administrative Assistant, Business Admin — Supply Chain | Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Access details are provided at enrolment. |
| Medical Office Assistant & Unit Clerk | Electronic health records practice uses SimChart in your browser. A comfortable keyboard helps — typing speed matters in this field. |
Accessibility
Course materials are designed to work with screen readers, captions and keyboard navigation. If you need accommodations — such as extended time or alternative formats — contact student services early so support is in place from the start. Read our accessibility statement.
Not sure your setup is enough?
Send us your computer model and program of interest and we will tell you whether it will work.
