Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant
When an employer pays for short, instructor-led training, this government grant can cover 75% of eligible costs. It is not designed to pay for a full diploma program.
How the grant works
The Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant (previously the Canada-Alberta Job Grant) is a cost-sharing program between employers and the Government of Alberta. Employers apply on behalf of their employees for training that improves workplace productivity. You cannot apply as an individual — but you can bring the idea to your employer.

Hi [Manager's name], I would like to build my skills in [area, e.g. medical billing / cybersecurity / supply chain] through an online program, which would help me with [one or two specific tasks in my current role]. The Government of Alberta's Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant can cover a large share of eligible training costs for employees (details: alberta.ca/canada-alberta-job-grant). The employer applies before training starts. Could we discuss whether this would work for our team? I am happy to put together the program details and costs. Thank you, [Your name]
