About Ucademy

Is Ucademy accredited or licensed?

Ucademy has applied for licensure as a private vocational training institution in Alberta. Our application is currently under review and our programs are pending approval. We are not yet enrolling students, but you are welcome to request information and we will keep you updated as our status changes.

Who are the programs for?

Our programs are designed for adult learners — career changers, newcomers to Canada and recent graduates — who want practical, job-ready training they can complete from home on a flexible schedule.

Do I need to live in Alberta or Canada to study?

No. Because our programs are delivered online, you can study from anywhere. International learners can complete Ucademy programs from their home country; always confirm any local requirements that apply to you.

I am an international student or on a work permit. Can I study with Ucademy?

Please read our international students page first. Immigration rules are set by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and we cannot give immigration advice.

How do I get started?

Simply complete the Request Information form. A Ucademy advisor will reach out with program details and next steps. There is no cost or commitment to express your interest.

Studying online

Are the programs really 100% online?

Yes. All Ucademy programs are delivered fully online through our learning platform, with recorded lectures, live support and hands-on virtual labs for technology programs. You choose where and when you study.

What do I need to study online?

A reliable computer and a stable high-speed internet connection, a modern web browser, and a quiet place to study. Some technology programs recommend a slightly higher-spec computer for virtual labs.

How long does a program take?

Programs are self-paced, so it depends on your hours. As a guide, the Medical Office Assistant & Unit Clerk Certificate takes about nine months at 12–15 hours a week. Use the study-time calculator to estimate any program at your own pace.

Are there set class times?

No. There are no mandatory live sessions — you study when it suits you and reach instructors through the learning platform. Self-paced does not mean open-ended, though: each program has a recommended pace to help you finish.

Can I work while I study?

Yes. The programs are designed for working adults. Many people study part-time, about 12–15 hours a week, around a job and family. The free readiness check helps you see how ready you are for online study.

What happens if I fail a quiz?

Quizzes are marked instantly, have a pass mark and can be retaken. Full assessment and graduation rules for each program will be published once the programs are approved.

Can I try it before I decide?

Yes. Open a free sample lesson with no account, take the program quiz to see which program fits you, or book an information session.

What if I need accommodations?

Tell us what you need when you request information. See our accessibility statement for how we make the site and the learning platform accessible.

Practicums

Do any programs include a practicum or internship?

Yes, two do. The Medical Office Assistant & Unit Clerk Certificate ends with a 100-hour supervised practicum in a healthcare workplace, and the Administrative Assistant Diploma includes an 86-hour administrative internship. See how practicums and internships work.

Does Ucademy find my practicum placement?

We help you find one: career services shares leads from employers who have registered interest in hosting, reviews your resume and helps you prepare. Placements depend on employers having space, so we cannot promise a particular site, city or start date.

Will I need a police check or immunizations?

Only if your practicum host asks for them. Healthcare workplaces commonly ask for a recent police information check and proof of immunizations; each host’s requirements are confirmed before your placement is arranged.

Paying for a program

How much does it cost?

Tuition varies by program and credential. Final tuition and fees will be confirmed before enrolment opens. Request information for the latest details and payment options.

Can I get student loans or grants?

Not yet. Alberta Student Aid and Canada Student Loans and Grants are only available for designated programs, and a program can only be designated after it is licensed — Alberta’s rules for new private career colleges then add a waiting period of at least 12 months and require at least 10 graduates. The funding finder shows which other options may fit you now.

Can my employer pay for my program?

Many employers pay for job-related training, and that conversation can start now. The Canada-Alberta Productivity Grant can share the cost of short, instructor-led training with employers, but a full diploma program usually does not qualify.

Can I claim tuition on my taxes or use the Canada Training Credit?

Only if the program qualifies. Tax credits apply to fees paid to institutions eligible for the tuition tax credit; for a private career college this means certification by Employment and Social Development Canada, which is not yet in place for Ucademy.

Is there a payment plan?

Ucademy plans to offer monthly payment options. Tuition and payment plans will be published before enrolment opens, and no tuition is collected before then.

Careers & credentials

Will I receive a certificate?

When you complete a program you receive a Ucademy certificate of completion.

Do you guarantee a job?

No school can honestly guarantee a job, and we do not. Career services helps with your resume, interview practice and job search. The wage and outlook figures on our site come from the Government of Canada’s Job Bank and describe whole occupations, not what Ucademy students earn.

Is a Ucademy certificate the same as an industry certification like CompTIA A+?

No. A Ucademy certificate or diploma shows you completed a career-college program. Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Security+ are separate exams run by their own organizations. Some programs cover material those exams test, but you book and pay for the exam yourself. See are tech certifications worth it in Canada and certificate vs diploma vs degree.

Can I transfer my credits to a college or university later?

Transfer credit is always decided by the receiving institution, so we cannot promise it. If you plan to continue your studies, ask the college or university you have in mind before you enrol, and keep your course outlines.
