Frequently asked questions
Is this an admission test?
No. The readiness check is a free self-check to help you prepare. It does not affect any application, and Ucademy does not see your results unless you choose to save them.
How is typing speed calculated?
Words per minute counts every five correctly typed characters as one word, over the time you typed (up to 60 seconds). Accuracy is the share of characters you typed correctly. On a phone or tablet the result says little about typing at a computer, so we suggest taking that part on a computer.
What typing speed do I need?
There is no single number. Faster, accurate typing makes online study, notes and office work easier, and it improves quickly with a few minutes of daily practice. Use your result as a starting point, not a pass or fail.
Which computer skills does it check?
Everyday things you would use while studying online and at work: keyboard shortcuts, files and shared folders, email, spreadsheets, passwords, recognising phishing, PDFs and video calls. After you check your answers you see a short explanation for each question.
What happens if I enter my email?
Entering your email is optional. If you do, we email you a copy of your results, save them so an advisor can help you, and let you know when intakes open — there is no commitment. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your information.
